Microsoft Announces Xbox Series X Mini Fridge

Since the Xbox Series X’s design was revealed, one of the most popular jokes has been that it resembles a refrigerator. Microsoft acknowledged the meme in a tweet last year, prior to the device’s release. That tweet was the winner of a competition, prompting Microsoft to produce real Xbox Series X mini fridges.

On Sunday, when Microsoft’s E3 2021 presentation came to a close, the corporation had a “one more thing” moment. Microsoft has announced that an Xbox Series X mini fridge will be available this Christmas season. It will be “the world’s most powerful small fridge,” according to the manufacturer. In the world of refrigerators, this probably means nothing, but it indicates that the Xbox Series X is the most powerful system.

The design of the fridge appears to be similar to that of the Series X, replete with an Xbox logo and green lights on the interior, as seen in the trailer. It uses “Xbox Velocity Cooling Architecture” and has a capacity of roughly 10 normal cans. Microsoft has yet to announce a particular release date or price.

We rarely associate Microsoft with refrigerators, so how did we end up with the Xbox Series X Mini Fridge?

Successful Tweet

This is a story that begins in 2019 when Microsoft unveiled the Series X’s square long upright box design. Whether you like or dislike the design, the console is clearly styled like a refrigerator. It didn’t take long for this to become a meme.

When Microsoft was preparing to release the Series X, it sent out a tweet revealing that it had created a full-size Xbox Series X refrigerator. This was a one-off build to advertise the console and parody the refrigerator meme. A fridge was also given away by the company to one lucky winner.

Twitter Marketing has nominated that tweet for the prize category “Best of Tweets Brand Bracket” for 2020. In a fan poll to choose the best tweet, Microsoft faced up against Skittles in the final.

Microsoft’s general manager of Xbox Games Marketing, Aaron Greenberg, tweeted that if consumers helped the firm win the competition, Microsoft will build the fridge.

You can probably predict how the vote went now that the Xbox Mini Fridge has been announced. Microsoft won 50.5 percent of the 341,731 votes cast, edging out Skittles by a hair. And now, with their latest piece of gear, Greenberg and Microsoft is honoring their word.
